PART 1: ABORTION FACTS
During one “Get EQUIPPED” session, 164 babies will lose their lives here in America,
12,500 of them throughout the world.
More than half of those are children of Christians.
Each abortion includes three main factors: not just the sin, but also trauma, and loss.
Abortion is Violence and Trauma to Baby and the Mother.
This is a gross understatement because abortion is traumatic on multiple levels.
It results in the loss of human life. Guilt because of the purposeful taking of it.
There is no real counseling because it is a business transaction.
There is no discussion of the short or long-term effects or of the internal and external pressures under which it is chosen.
There is no face-to-face time with the doctor.
No processing re: what is best for child – only about the immediate concerns of others.
There is little outside support because it is usually done in secret and no processing through options or resources.
In addition: It is touted as “safe” and “legal” – many do it, but no one talks about it.
Afterwards, there is no true perspective in isolation. It is confusing and deceptive in many ways.
It is advertised as a solution, yet it causes far more problems.
There may be a slight awareness of deception, but the only seemingly safe response to any of this is denial.
DEFINITIONS OF TRAUMA
An injury to living tissue caused by an extrinsic agent; a disordered psychic or behavioral state resulting from severe mental stress or physical injury. (Merriam-Webster)
Pathology: a body wound or shock produced by sudden physical injury, as from violence or accident. Psychiatry: an experience that produces psychological injury or pain.
Abortion is violence against the mom and the child. Always for the child and often for the mom, it is a form of DOMESTIC violence.
We saw from the reading material and video the complexity of abortion. This is because many women feel pressured or coerced (or even forced) into abortion by their parents, their baby’s father, or his parents.
Whether surgical or chemical, abortion is a trauma on MULTIPLE levels – physical, psychological, spiritual, and relational.
Words like “healthcare,” “safe,” legal, and “right,” make abortion INSIDIOUS. This is an Adjective meaning: intended to entrap or beguile: an insidious plan. It is stealthily treacherous or deceitful: an insidious enemy. It is operating or proceeding in an inconspicuous or seemingly harmless way but actually with grave effect
Most do not expect to be traumatized by it. In abortion, there is a death, a loss of human life, one’s own child. Not only is there a death, but a sin – the taking of that life. No one at the clinic cares what you are going through. To them it is a medical procedure and, as mentioned before, a business transaction. The “counseling” women receive before the procedure is nothing but a sales pitch.
Combine what abortion is advertised to be, with what it truly is, and it is very confusing and deceptive.
Many women are under PRESSURE to have the abortion. (If you don’t have an abortion, you can’t live here. If you don’t have an abortion, I will leave you.
They feel TRAPPED with no way out.
They have no SUPPORT for doing anything else. Or perhaps
They choose it to hide their own SHAME of sex outside marriage.
They feel they can’t handle yet another CHILD on top of the three or four they already have.
They feel abortion will EMPOWER them to finish school or have a career, but it actually disempowers them in the most important things God created them to do.
All these things put together create an extremely traumatic experience.
They are in a form of shock and have no idea how much they have been traumatized.
