PART 3: God’s View on Life

 

PART 3: GOD’S VIEW ON LIFE 

Some more commonly known Scriptures were listed in our reading material this week about God’s view on the sanctity of human life. Here are some less-common ones. Scriptures listed for each of these in your workbook. We don’t have time to read them all in this session, but please use them for your own reference. 

  1. Human life is VALUABLE.  Genesis 1:26-27; Psalm 8:4-5; Job 31:13–15.  

  1. There is severe punishment for anyone who takes an INNOCENT human life. Exodus 20:13, 21:12;  Leviticus 20:2,4-5.  

  1. RC Sproul stated that Scripture implies that an assault against human life is considered by God an assault against Himself. To murder a person is to attack one who is the IMAGE-bearer of God. Genesis 9:5-6.  

  1. Old Testament law protected the pre-born. Exodus 21:22-25.  

  1. Permitting innocent bloodshed POLLUTES a land. Numbers 35:33-34. 

  1. The community of FAITH is charged with defending life. Proverbs 24:11-12.  

  1. God hates hands that shed innocent blood.  Proverbs 6:17 

  1. The man who accepts money to kill an innocent person is CURSED. Deuteronomy 27:25.  

  1. One of the sins of Ammon that resulted in God’s wrath was killing preborn children. Amos 1:13.   

  1. It is worse to kill the innocent in a PROTECTED place. Samuel 4:11.  

  1. Paul was set apart “from his mother’s womb.”  Galatians 1:15-16. 

  1. There are references to Jesus along with John the Baptist in the womb.  Matthew 1:20-21, Luke 1:5–17.        *EXTREMELY IMPORTANT!! 

  1. The same Greek word brephos (literally “babe” or “baby”) describes both the PREBORN and the born.  Luke 2:12,16; Acts 7:19; 1 Peter 2:2; Luke 1:41,44. 

  1. There are many more Scriptures that confirm the way God views human life at all stages. NEVER ONCE in the Bible is there any indication that life inside the womb is any less valuable than life outside the womb.
