PART 1: Worldly Sorrow vs Godly Sorrow

PART 1: WORLDLY SORROW VS GODLY SORROW

Out of 31,102 verses in the Bible, this Session is built on only one of them. 2 Cor 7:10It encapsulates the concept of choice and consequences throughout the entirety of Scriptures, the Old and New Testaments. It describes perfectly the problem of sin and the solution to it. It explains the mindset that determines the outcome. It is applicable both personally and corporately.

Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.

Everything boils down to a choice between God’s ways – The fear of God, repentance for sin, the salvation and abundant life that follow – that leaves us with no regret. Or our ways – the fear of man, the world’s ways, self-justification, and hopelessness – that lead to death.

As with the story in the reading material regarding the father in the congregation murdering his 2-year old, as long churches don’t address sexual sin and abortion and their impact on everyone, it will be dealt with individually in nothing better than a haphazard and unhealthy manner, giving the enemy plentiful opportunities to speak more lies into our hearts about the tragedy of it.
