PART 1: Culture of Life

Welcome back to Get Equipped as we begin Session 3: God’s Word on Life.

In Session 2 We talked specifically about God’s incredible design of the man’s and woman’s body and the meaning and purpose of their individual unique parts. We also discussed genealogy and the importance of that in understanding the value of every single human. We ended with an example of a family tree in which 2 generational lines were wiped out because of two moms who aborted their babies.

PART 1: CULTURE OF LIFE

Culture of LifeGod is the Creator of heaven and earth. He is our Creator and the Creator of all life and the Creator of the culture of life. God saw all he had made and said it was very good. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6).

He commands that we choose LIFE and blessings over death and curses so that we and our descendants may live (Deut 30:19).

The culture of life is a choice!

When He created the world and animals and people, he set in motion the ability of every living thing to reproduce. He commanded Adam and Eve to fill the earth and subdue it.

Until they sinned by not obeying God’s one command to not eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, there was no death in the world, only life.

While there was no evil in the beautiful world God made, He gave Adam and Eve a choice to obey Him or not.

The serpent started the evil ball rolling by his deception of Eve. Eve fell for the deception and made a choice to defy God, eat the fruit, and convince her husband to also eat it. Yet, even in their sin, and the punishment of being cast out of the garden, God provided coverings for their nakedness and shame. Even in our sin, our God continues His culture of life and redemption.

Though we bear the consequences of our sin, we get to choose each moment whether we will partake with God in His culture of life or give our allegiance to the evil one and participate in his culture of death.

Thousands of years later, Jesus said, I have come that they might have life, and that abundantly.”

Pastors/churches assume we know what we need to know.

Congregations assume their pastors would tell them if there is something they need to know.

Yet our beliefs are often based on what is heard elsewhere, outside the church, regarding subjects on which the church is silent.

We don’t really know much except a vague Biblical perspective alongside loud worldly perspective.
