PART 1 – INTRODUCTION video

Welcome to Module I, Session 1 of Get EQUIPPED,  Foundations of Getting Equipped – My name is Joni Shepherd, and I am grateful and honored to be your instructor for this course. Thank you for joining me on this life-changing journey that will equip you to see the difficult subjects of sexuality, pregnancy, and abortion through the eyes of our redemptive Savior.

Let’s look at some Scriptures on which this course is based:

Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.

Romans 2:1-4 1 You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgement do the same things.2 Now we know that God’s judgment against those who do such things is based on truth. 3 So when you, a mere human being, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God’s judgment? 4 Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?

Romans 3:10-18 10 As it is written: ‘There is no-one righteous, not even one: 11 there is no-one who understands; there is no-one who seeks God. 12 All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no-one who does good, not even one. 13 Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice deceit. The poison of vipers is on their lips. 14 Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness. 15 Their feet are swift to shed blood; 16 ruin and misery mark their ways, 17 and the way of peace they do not know. 18 There is no fear of God before their eyes.’

Romans 3:23-24 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,24 and all are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

Facilitators: Please pause the video for the brief GROUP DISCUSSION time and then start it when you are finished.

We are excited you are here and hope to see Kingdom of God bursting through darkness of these subjects at their roots.

Most of our churches are silent and reactive about the most difficult subjects.

We say we believe God is big enough but act like they are bigger because we believe the enemy lies.

Our silence about these things and Satan’s dirty secrets will never overcome them in church or world.

Our silence about sexual sin and abortion perpetuates them in the church.

We need to start the conversation and take back enemy territory that he has claimed for over 50 years!

Our approach must be from Truth and Grace because that is how Jesus came.

No more cowering on these subjects – Jesus has overcome death and destruction – And He IS BIGGER!

We need to See more clearly both the DEVASTATION of sexual immorality and abortion on individuals, families, churches, and society and the HOPE we have in Christ to overcome it.

We want this to spread within our churches to our communities, our cities, states, the nation, and the world.

Throughout each Session, we ask that you write down any questions or comments to bring up in our discussion times. Please use a notecard on your table to write down any questions you would like to submit. Your facilitators will cover them later in the session or by email if you run out of time.
