About us

Most abortions are done on Christians (according to 2 major studies) – more than one child of a Christian dies by abortion every minute in America. We want to come alongside the church to change that!

The problem we face is we have been trying to end abortion without addressing the roots of it. We are trying to promote the sanctity of human life without addressing the sanctity of the human body first. If we don’t first know how to value our bodies as they were wonderfully designed by God, how can we fully value the forming body of a baby in the womb produced by misusing our bodies? 

Unlike most “pro-life” discussions, the courses provided by Hope and Grace Academy are not about philosophizing over the problems of sexual immorality and abortion and what a mess the world and the church are in because of these things. Instead, our approach is to return to God’s intent for humanity, understand the reasons we are in such peril, and provide practical solutions for those who need healing or assistance. It is not an unsolvable mystery how we can overcome the most tragic and consequential practices of all time. In John 16:33, Jesus said, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” Please join us as we follow our Overcomer all the way to redemption! 

Our beginnings

Joni Shepherd, Executive Director, lost two children to the deception of abortion in 1980, damaging her life in multiple ways before she began to find healing. God impressed on her the need for the church to address identity, sexuality, pregnancy, and abortion proactively and redemptively because we have outsourced these important issues and rarely address them effectively in-house. 

Hope and Grace Global was born in 2016 to come alongside the church to transform church culture through a biblical model of morality. Men and women in current crisis or past trauma can come for resources and hope in safe community with truth and grace. Through our SafeChurch™ Project and a Hope and Grace Partnership with churches, our OBJECTIVES are that the church may become:  

  • Empowered by Truth 
  • Healed by Grace 
  • Champions for Life, and 
  • A Safe Haven. 
WHAT WE DON’T DO:
  • Do politics or legislation. (While important, it’s not the focus of our mission) 
  • Try to make the world behave. 
  • Act as a para-church organization, doing what the church should be doing directly.
